What is FLAUSBAU?

FLAUSBAU is a project.

It is about bats.

We have 25 bat species in Germany

Many of the bats live also in our houses.

Some people want to insulate their houses.

This is good for the climate.

But bats can lose their home.

We are looking for solutions.

We develop bat boxes.

We build the boxes into insulated house walls.

We study if bats move in there.

Bats should get a new home.

Who is doing the project?

The project is done by two partners:

1. The NABU Rheinland-Pfalz
This is an association for nature conservation.
The association protects animals and plants.

2. The Leibniz-IZW
This is a research institute.
Researchers work at the institute.
They study wild animals.

Different experts support the project.

The experts help with their knowledge.

Who is paying for the project?

The project is paid by:

The Federal Agency for Nature Conservation
This is an authority.
The authority protects nature in Germany.

The money is from:
The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety
It is a part of the federal government.
They do environmental policy.
