Bats are fascinating neighbours – they eat insects at night, thereby helping to reduce mosquitoes and other pests in a natural way. However, many old buildings are lost during energy-efficient refurbishments. This is where our FLAUSBAU research project comes in: we are developing modular bat boxes that are integrated directly into external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS).
To test the effectiveness of our modules, we are looking for refurbishment projects with bat populations in Germany that can serve as test sites – whether public buildings or private homes. By participating, you will be making a direct contribution to species conservation, supporting science and observing how bats accept new roosts.
Your advantages at a glance:
- You actively contribute to bat conservation.
- No costs for the roosts: the bat box modules are provided by the project and become your property.
- Knowledge about your neighbours: we will let you know which bat species are using your new roosts.
- Part of an innovative, nationwide project: You are supporting a pilot project that could set nationwide standards in species conservation during refurbishments.
Curious? You can find more information and the opportunity to participate in our project flyer. The flyer can be found on this page under “Download & Documents” or under the info point.
